 Il rifugio è piuttosto antico: la prima parte della costruzione risale addirittura a metà '800, ed in una cartolina di inizio '900 è già indicato come rifugio CAI. All'epoca la proprietà dello stabile era comunque privata: i proprietari erano persone del luogo, che possedevano anche i terreni circostanti.
La costruzione fu modificata ed espansa più volte: una prima volta nel 1922, ed una seconda negli anni sessanta del secolo scorso, fino a giungere alla configurazione odierna.
Nel 1996 il rifugio è stato chiuso. Nel 2001 la struttura è stata acquisita dalla Regione Piemonte che dal 2003 ha provveduto alla sua ristrutturazione. L'inaugurazione ufficiale della nuova struttura si è avuta il 18 giugno 2006.
Il rifugio è aperto tutto l'anno, offre servizio ristorante, bar ed alberghetto con più più di 60 posti letto, in parte in camerette indipendenti.
Acesso: Nel periodo estivo si può raggiungere il rifugio in auto salendo la val Chisone fino a Depot, frazione di Fenestrelle, per poi salire e superare Pracatinat lungo la strada provinciale 172 del colle delle Finestre, dalla quale bisogna poi prendere il bivio per accedere ad una strada sterrata di circa 5 km che conduce al rifugio. In alternativa, oppure nel periodo invernale (31/10-31/5) si può salire per sentiero partendo da Villaretto Superiore di Roure.

Buon divertimento!
 This alpine refuge is quite ancient: the first part of the building dates back to the mid eighteenth century and on a map of the beginning of nineteenth century it is already indicated as a refuge of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club). At the time, the building was private owned by local families who also owned the surrounding lands.
br> The building was modified and expanded several times: once in 1922, and a second in the sixties of the last century, until reaching the current configuration.
In 1996 the shelter was closed. In 2001 the pèroperty was bought by the Piedmont Region, which since 2003 has provided for its renovation. The official opening of the new structure has taken place June 18, 2006.
The refuge is open all year, it offers restaurant service, bar and small hotel with more than 60 berths.
Access: In summer you can reach the refuge by car going up the val Chisone up to Depot, a hamlet of Fenestrelle, to go up and overcome Pracatinat along the provincial road 172 of the Colle delle Finestre, from which then you have to take the junction to access a dirt road about 5 km which leads to the shelter. Alternatively, or in winter (Oct 31st - May 31st) you can climb to the path starting from the hamlet Villaretto Superiore di Roure.
