Rageblaze The Cremator, the fearsome fire breathing dragon, has for years now been terrorising this area. He began by attacking merchant caravans as they traversed the woodland paths of St Dennis, but he was thwarted by the brave Kacher Knights of the age and forced to retreat into a smaller cave and await his strength to return. This it did, and once his strength was great enough he once again launched an attack on the local caravans, this time attacking two new areas that forced the Kacher Knights to track down his movements in one location before they could move on to finding the dragon's hoard elsewhere. The Kacher Knights were brave and they attacked the dragon in force, but it was not they that finally forced this great monster from his cave.
It was the muggles that achieved this great feat. The very same muggle merchants that the Kacher Knights had fought so valiantly to save rose up and petitioned foreign aid to rid them of this fell beast, and the great leaders to whom many viewed as the greatest of their age obliged, forcing the dragon to once again retreat to safety. The Kacher Knights, so brave and valiant as they were, became outraged that their efforts had been usurped, and they looked to their local King for guidance. The King, wise in the ways of the modern world, decreed that there would be no war upon either the greatest leaders nor the muggle merchants whom had sought such assistance. It was up to them, the Kacher Knights loyal to their King of the locality, to prove themselves the superior by maintaining their pride and continuing to watch over the local muggle merchants. Only by once again proving their stength could the Kacher Knights be restored as the true heroes, and so they obeyed their King and waited patiently for the day to come that they could once again defend this great kingdom.
It was not long that they would have to wait. Rageblaze The Cremator, forced out at great speed but without great injury, launched a new objective of his own. Unlike the proud Kacher Knights, the dragon saw the muggle merchants as his true enemy now. His campaign of slaughter returned, exacting revenge in force upon the local caravans, but this time he was aware of the foreign leaders and sought to ensure that the muggle merchants could not call for such help. He chose a location far from anywhere that the great nations would choose to enter, and to assure his safety he attacked the red boxes that the muggle merchants could use to carry messages of distress over great distances. There were four of these that he destroyed, all near to his new lair. The first was in Fraddon, near to the Post Office, and this was followed very shortly by one on the outskirts of St Dennis between Gothers and Enniscaven. A little time later the dragon destroyed one in St Columb Major, near the cemetery, and then moved to destroy that in Carpalla, near Foxhole.
This reign of terror had to be stopped, and the Kacher Knights were ready to prove themselves once again as the finest heroes of the age. This time there would be no mercy for the dragon. As an endangered species the Kacher Knights had always shown the beast more mercy than he perhaps deserved, but this was it. One final time, Rageblaze The Cremator must be removed from his seat of power. One final time, Rageblaze The Cremator must face the Kacher Knights, and this one final time he must be destroyed. He could not be allowed to return again lest the Kacher Knights appear incompetent right when they most needed to show the muggle merchants that it was they whom held the true power. Seizing upon this opportunity, the Kacher Knights attempted to discover the dragon's lair by looking for a pattern in the recent attacks. They knew that if they could find one then it would not be long before the glint of dropped pieces of gold would once again lead them to the treasure hoard, and Rageblaze The Cremator would finally be put to rest.
The final journey on the approach to the dragon's lair would require steeds, but these must be hitched a distance from the entrance to the pass, so the brave Kacher Knights thought it wise to use as few steeds as possible. They also decided to go armed in force for safety, and to carry flaming torches and lanterns to see by as they approached their destination. The local cartographers warned the Kacher Knights to take care of the terrain that they would traverse upon their journey, and the King wished them luck in their venture as the brave and valiant Kacher Knights would need to attack by night were they to catch the dragon sleeping.
