Geocache Description:

Another Roadside Attraction Geotrail

North Carolina - Ava Gardner Museum

There is nothing better than a good road trip: driving down the open road, eating at tiny roadside diners, going 150 miles out of the way to take a selfie in front of ... the Peachoid water tower! Oh Say, can you see ... me with the world’s largest frying pan?

This geotrail honors those unique, odd, bizarre, fun, historic, campy, weird, and just downright interesting roadside attractions in North and South Carolina. The caches aren’t meant to be hard, it is a power-trail after all. None of the caches are hidden at the posted locations - but answer the question correctly and you will have a working set of coordinates. All of the hides are preform bottles.

Fan museum that honors North Carolinian and hometown girl Ava Gardner. The collection was started in 1941 by a 12 year old fan, Tom Banks.  The Banks family devoted most of their lives to collecting memorabilia from every source possible. In the early 1980s, Dr. Banks purchased the Brogden Teacherage, the house where Ava lived from age 2 to 13, and operated his own Ava Gardner Museum for nine years. After Banks death, in the summer of 1990, Mrs. Banks donated the collection, being assured that a permanent museum would be maintained in by the county, which is also Gardner’s birthplace and final resting place.
