Geocache Description:

The Picton Clock-Tower is a local landmark, built in memory of Sir James Picton's wife.

When his wife Sarah died after 50 years of marriage, local philanthropist and politician Sir James Picton replaced the 'Big Lamp' in the centre of the village with this clock tower dedicated to her.

The clock tower was mentioned in an early draft of the lyrics to The Beatles' In My Life and remains a key navigation point in the city.
