Since I was a little boy, I have always been fascinated with maps. I guess I was a "map head" as Ken Jennings would say. Besides enjoying a gigantic world map that was hanging on my bedroom wall, I also had a special interest for topographic maps. I would spend hours looking at them, studying paths, looking for interesting ruins, mapping explorations on my mountain bike. When I started geocaching, I specifically bought a GPS that had topo maps.
So this mystery cache is about the topo map of the park. When studying it, 1067 jumped at me. There is only one within the park boundaries!
Your goal is to find "1067". The best way to find "1067", is to stop at the Park Headquarters and ask for the "Trails Map". Then follow the trails until you get close. The best approach is from the south on the trail.
Be observant and as precise as possible in your search for 1067. No map is precise enough. You will need to fine tune by comparing features visually on location.
Once you have found 1067, you will have to do a small projection to get the cache. The cache is 49 feet from 1067 to the East (90 bearing).
From the parking lot, you should count on a 3 mile round trip hike. Wear long pants and be ready for a little bit of scrambling. Enjoy the park!
