Geocache Description:

This is our first in a series of three geocaches showcasing the buildings in Gallup that were built by the WPA.

This Historical Building is one of three buildings in Gallup which are products of the WPA (Work Projects Administration)—part of the New Deal agency, that gave jobs to millions of unemployed men  in carrying out public works projects during the Great Depression.  This building was built in 1938.  It houses several pieces of New Deal art. Murals, tile work, lamps, paintings, and furniture by New Deal artists and crafts workers grace this historic building's interior.  Very nearby at 7:00 pm, there are free nightly Indian Dances from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  Just listen, and follow the music!
