The Farmer's Bank building.  This is the original location of The Farmer's Bank and the original vault is still in place inside the building.  On June 8, 1864, General John Hunt Morgan captured the city of Mt. Sterling during the Civil War.  He left for Lexington but several of his men stayed behind.  That night The Farmer's Bank was robbed and $65,000 was taken from the vault. The next day, The Union Army took Mt. Sterling back. The robbers were never identified and the money was never recovered.
