Abbiamo deciso di mettere una cache quassù per far conoscere ai geocacher un posto bellissimo con uno splendido panorama. Questo era sicuramente lo stesso intento dei due giocatori (volterr@ e Hrundi Silvassa) che l'avevano posta nello stesso luogo ma hanno dovuto archiviarla per problemi di manutenzione. Speriamo che questa volta la sorte di questa cache sia migliore! 
Nelle Cronache del terz’ordine francescano del convento dei cappuccini di Poppi si legge come abbia avuto origine l’idea di una croce in Pratomagno e come sia stata poi realizzata. Nel 1926 ricorreva il settimo centenario della morte di san Francesco e il Casentino lo festeggiò in modo solenne. “Venne l’idea di erigere una Croce monumentale sulla vetta più alta di Pratomagno quasi in atto di benedire le due vallate del Casentino e del Valdarno. Il progetto venne ideato dal R. Padre Direttore [p. Luigi da Pietrasanta]". Si formò a questo scopo un comitato casentinese e un altro nel Valdarno. Il 14 agosto 1927 si celebrò la festa per la posa della prima pietra. L’inaugurazione della Croce avvenne il 2 settembre 1928. Questa fu disegnata dal professor Tito Chini di Firenze; poggia su di un blocco di fondazione per il quale occorsero 100 quintali di cemento. La Croce è alta m 22, è composta di 900 pezzi di ferro del peso di oltre 150 quintali. Tutti i popoli delle due vallate contribuirono per la loro Croce, ma il popolo che va ricordato in maniera particolare è quello di Raggiolo che portò quasi tutto il materiale gratuitamente.

We decided to put up here a cache to let geocachers know a beautiful place with a wonderful view. This was definitely the same intent of the two players (volterr@ and Hrundi Silvassa) who had placed a geocache in the same place but had to archive it for maintenance problems. Hopefully this time the fate of this cache could be better!
In the Chronicles of the Franciscan Third Order of the convent of the Capuccini's friars of Poppi you can read how have come out the idea of a cross in Pratomagno and how it was then realized. The 1926 was the year of the celebration of the seventh centenary of the death of St. Francis and Casentino celebrated it solemnly. For this purpose born two committees: one in Casentino and another one in Valdarno. On August 14, 1927 were celebrated the laying of the first foundation stone. The inauguration of the Cross took place on September 2, 1928. This was designed by the Professor Tito Chini by Florence; it rests on a foundation block for which it took 100 tons of cement. The cross is 22 m high, is composed of 900 pieces of iron weighing over 150 tons. All the peoples of the two valleys contributed for their Cross, but the people that should be remembered in a special way is Raggiolo's inhabitants, who led almost all the material for free.
