The cache name is inspired by interesting patterns in the rocks found near this location. After a little research it seems like the white lines seen in many rocks are actually calcite veins within limestone. It forms when cracks occur in the limestone and fills in with crystallisation of Calcite. Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate.
This spot is well worth visting on a clear day for fantastic panoramic views over the surrounding countryside, Strangford Lough and Belfast Lough.
Access to the cache is via Cairn Wood- it is easily accessible from nearby cache "cairngiver hill 6.angus's hilltop lookout..." Some trailheads are listed to help navigate route to cache. First head through the unlocked gate. At the next trailhead, be careful of the electrified wire. It can be unhooked and replaced on the right end to avoid electification! The cache is a small camo container with room for a small travelbug. .
