Dalle colline al mare fin dove può arrivare lo sguardo.
Da Monopoli, imboccando la SP113 che porta ad Alberobello, si attraversa per un lungo tratto la campagna attorniati da ulivi per poi cominciare la salita tutta curve del Monte San Nicola. La SP113 è chiamata la "Panoramica" per le magnifiche vedute di cui si può godere. Durante il tragitto già dopo le prime curve è ben visibile una croce posta su uno spuntone di roccia. Salendo, sulla sinistra c'è uno spiazzo ( Waypoint ) dove si può parcheggiare per poi salire a piedi fino a U’ Crést (il Cristo in croce, tradotto dal vernacolo monopolitano).
U’ Crést
Il Cristo venne realizzato in cemento armato dallo scultore barese Alberto Bona nel 1970/71 e posto, in sostituzione della vecchia croce in legno, su una croce realizzata dall’ebanista Nicolò Calderaro. Nel gennaio del 1982 la croce in legno venne sostituita da una in ferro realizzata dall'artista monopolitano Vincenzo Mantriota. Nel marzo del 2015, all'età di 89 anni, lo stesso Mantriota ha restaurato la statua del Cristo che il tempo e le intemperie avevano rovinato. E' stato aggiunto un faretto alimentato da un pannello solare e un muretto e una panchina in pietra per permettere ai numerosi fedeli in visita di pregare in raccoglimento.
La salita per arrivare al Cristo non è molto impegnativa, anche se occorre camminare per circa 60 metri e superare dei gradoni su un terreno a volte sdrucciolevole, ma se c'e' riuscita mia suocera di 90 anni potete farlo anche voi 
e quando sarete su sarete ripagati dall'incredibile panorama.
In un angolo c'è una statuetta raffigurante la Madonna ai cui piedi vengono lasciati piccoli oggetti e anche qualche ex-voto. Lasciate tutto come lo trovate.
Lasciate il posto pulito e se potete raccogliete eventuali rifiuti abbandonati da visitatori poco attenti.

From the hills to the sea as far as the eye can see
Taking the SP113, the road that leads from Monopoli Alberobello, we cross the countryside for a long stretch surrounded by olive trees and then start the uphill road full of curves of Mount Saint Nicholas. The SP113 is called the "Panoramic" for the magnificent views that you can enjoy. On the way after the first few curves a cross is clearly visible placed on an outcrop of rock. Going up on the left there is a lay-by (Waypoint) where you can park and then walk up to "U 'Crest" (Christ on the cross, translated from the dialect of Monopoli).
U’ Crést
the Christ was shaped in reinforced concrete by the sculptor Alberto Bona from Bari in 1970/71 and placed, in place of the old wooden cross, on a cross made by the cabinetmaker Nicholas Calderaro. In January 1982 the wooden cross was replaced by an iron cross made by the artist Vincenzo Mantriota from Monopoli. In March of 2015, at the age of 89 years, the Mantriota himself restored the statue of Christ that time and weather had ruined. there was added a spotlight powered by a solar panel and a low wall and a stone bench to allow numerous faithful to pray in meditation.
The path to reach the Christ is not very challenging, even if we have to walk for about 60 meters and exceed large steps on a ground sometimes slippery, but if my 90 year old mother-in-law has succeeded you can too and when you arrive you will be repaid by the incredible landscape.
In one corner there is a statue of the Madonna at whose feet are left small items and even some ex-voto. Leave everything as you find it.
Leave the place clean, and if you can catch any waste left by careless visitors.
