South Carolina - Miniature Golf Capital of the World

There is nothing better than a good road trip: driving down the open road, eating at tiny roadside diners, going 150 miles out of the way to take a selfie in front of … the Peachoid water tower! Oh Say, can you see … me with the world’s largest frying pan?

This geotrail honors those unique, odd, bizarre, fun, historic, campy, weird, and just downright interesting roadside attractions in North and South Carolina. The caches aren’t meant to be hard, it is a power-trail after all. None of the caches are hidden at the posted locations - but answer the question correctly and you will have a working set of coordinates. All of the hides are preform bottles.

South Carolina takes pride in being the Mini-Golf Capital of the World. One city has over 50 courses alone - forming an ecosystem of manufactured mountains and Ty-D-Bowl blue waterfalls along a strip of highway that goes all the way to the North Carolina border.  The "golf" season lasts from Groundhog Day to Thanksgiving and entertains millions of beach going tourists annually. Course owners try to outdo their competitors every year with the biggest fire-breathing dragons or skeleton-packed pirate ships. Construction cost of one of the top-notch courses can run into the millions.  Mini-golf distractions are no longer the blinking eye-lightbulbs of a concrete monkey, but the cannonade eruption of a 50-foot-tall volcano belching a fireball over your head.
