Da Piazza Giusti si può raggiungere l’antica Rocca di Montecatini, posta su una delle due alture del colle su cui sorge il borgo; di forma pentagonale, presentava una grande piazza d’armi protetta da alte mura e una torre costruita su una precedente usata come residenza. Accanto alla Rocca un monumento, voluto dalle quattro Armi (Vigili del Fuoco, Artiglieria, Genio Militare e Marina), rende omaggio a Santa Barbara, patrona di Montecatini e di chi si dedichi alle armi da fuoco, attraverso l’esposizione di alcuni reperti storici delle varie istituzioni rappresentate. Subito sotto si trova la splendida chiesa di San Pietro Apostolo che era in origine la chiesa del castello di Montecatini ed era dedicata a san Michele. Divenne pieve e cambiò dedicazione nel XII secolo, quando l'edificio venne interamente ricostruito. L'attuale facciata, preceduta da una massiccia torre medievale, costituiva la testata absidale della chiesa romanica trasformata nelle forme attuali nel XVII secolo. L’interno mantiene ancor oggi gli antichi capitelli romanici, riscoperti durante i restauri del secolo scorso, che ulteriori trasformazioni settecentesche avevano inglobato nei pilastri barocchi voluti dall’architetto comasco Antonio Zannoni. Nei locali adiacenti alla chiesa si sviluppa l’interessante Museo di arte e arredi sacri, dove si conservano numerose opere di arti maggiori e minori, fra cui un imponente affresco della scuola di Andrea Orcagna con il Trionfo di Cristo e il Reliquiario di Santa Barbara, che conserva la parte superiore del cranio della santa.

From Piazza Giusti you can reach the ancient fortress of Montecatini, placed on one of the two hills on which stands the village; it is pentagonal and presented a large parade ground protected by high walls and a tower built on a former used as a residence. Next to the fortress there's a monument wanted by the four cropses (Fire Brigade, Artillery, Engineering Corps and Navy) that pays tribute to Santa Barbara, patron saint of Montecatini and who is dedicated to firearms, through the exhibition of some historical artifacts of the various institutions represented. Immediately below there's the beautiful church of St. Peter the Apostle, that was originally the church of the castle of Montecatini and was dedicated to Saint Michael. He became parish church and changed the dedication in the twelfth century, when the building was entirely rebuilt. The current façade, preceded by a massive medieval tower, was the head of the apse of the Romanesque church transformed in its present form in the seventeenth century. The interior still retains the ancient Roman capitals today, rediscovered during the last century restorations that further changes of the eighteenth-century incorporated in the baroque pillars wanted by architect Antonio Zannoni. In the rooms adjacent to the church, develops the interesting Museum of art and sacred furnishings, which houses numerous works of major and minor arts, including an imposing fresco of Andrea Orcagna school with the "Triumph of Christ" and the "Reliquary of Santa Barbara", that retains the upper part of Barbara's skull..
