This cache is a regular sized cache placed along the North Country Trail. Park at the listed waypoint along Snake Run Road and hike along the NCT until you get somewhat close to King Louie and his old kiln. The terrain is fairly easy until you get within 10 to 12 feet of the hiding spot.READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS CACHE!
King Louie thinks he owns every treasure in the jungle except the Red Flower. Man-kind used to use this lime kiln, but have abandoned it in further pursuit of the use of the Red Flower. King Louie is keeping the kiln in excellent condition while hoping to use it for his own good after acquiring the Red Flower for himself. Louie attempts a "monkey abduction" of Mowgli in hopes of forcing him to refire the kiln with the Red Flower. He tells Mowgli he'll be just like a human when he understands how to use the Red Flower. He's Kipling's way of saying that the only thing that separates the great white ape from the jungle dwellers is their use of fire and ingenuity, according to the animal's point of view. In a lot of ways, Louie's right. What the animals lack is the human's love to help the world around them as well as harm it. Mowgli saves a baby elephant with his tricks and his love of all the jungle's inhabitants. Louie, the self proclaimed "king", is only interested in using this ingenuity to rule his jungle with fear, and Mowgli knows it.
This cache is NOT in, on, or near the kiln. Digging through or removing ANY stonework is not neccessary!
Having said that, the cache is placed away from the kiln for this reason. Take a few pictures and have a look at some old-time ingenuity of our own. If we get logs stating the stone structure was disturbed, we'll archive this cache. Please enjoy this neat old area and hiking trail. There are small foot trails around the back of the structure that will get you close to the hiding spot. Happy hiking and Hunting!
