This is a very special place in Michigan history. This is the location where Edsel Ford built an estate to get away from busy life and the lack of privacy in the growing city of Detriot. He considered this his "Nerve Retreat" and named it Haven Hill. It was built in 1931 although they moved there in 1926 before it was complete. It was fully functioning with a generator, vegetable gardens, and a farm. It also had tennis courts, a pool, tobggan run and horse track. It was sold off after Edel Ford passed away to the State's Department of Conservation. Unfortunately the lodge fell victim to an arson fire in 1999. The foundation is all that remains. This cache isn't new to this location. During a caching event in 2014 this cache was discovered exactly where you find it today. I removed the cache until permission could be obtained from the proper channels through the park. The original log book is in the cache with some interesting logs.
This is a fun cache located at Haven Hill. You can follow the road up, but no vehicles are allowed. Please place the cache back as you found it and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
****Congratulations to ??? for the FTF!****
