Geocache Description:

If it wasn't for Kentucky Bourbon, Bernheim Forest would not exist today as we know it.  After immigrating to the US from Germany in 1867, Isaac Wolfe Bernheim and his brother Bernard slowly became involved in the liquor business in Paducah Kentucky.  In 1890 they moved to Louisville and purchased interest in the Pleasure Ridge Park Distillery.  In 1897 the Brothers built Bernheim Distillery at the corner of 7th street and Bernheim lane. Here they produced a popular premium Bourbon Whiskey called I.W. Harper.  The success of his distillery helped to the secure the Louisville area as a major center of Kentucky bourbon distilling.
Isaac Bernheim was grateful for his fortune and became a notable philanthropist.  He envisioned a place where the people of Kentucky could enjoy and learn about nature.  A place where art and culture could be appreciated.  Out of this was born Bernheim Forest, all made possible by Kentucky Bourbon.
