This is a micro cache so no room for any swag. Bring your own writing implement.
A medium sized cemetery in Ontario County. No night caching please. Do not upset or disturb any markers or headstones. You do not need to move or touch any of them to collect the information needed. Gentle respect for the occupants is expected. Please don't bring animals or allow small children to run about. If you have your children with you, by all means have them help collect the information you need and use this as a learning experience for them about proper cemetery behavior.
Here is a cemetery cache with a little work involved. You have to locate certain headstones and use the dates to calculate the final cache location. When you have a date such as 1/1/2016 add the zero in the day field to yield the needed number (e.g. 1012016).
Find the following markers and make note of the dates listed.
Find the WW II soldier at the base of the flagpole. Use the date of death
Look west and find “the true spirit of Christmas”. Use the date of death
Go north and find the Knapp bench. Use their date of marriage for the calculation
Sum up the dates and subtract 12016892 to determine Latitude for the cache location
Now look east and find the first soldier plaque, a sgt. in the Army Air Corps, on the other side of the driveway. Put the year of birth and year of death together to make an 8 digit number
Continue north across another driveway and find a black stone bench. Use the most northern person’s date of death
Go a little further north and find a gray stone bench. Use the most northern person’s date of death
Sum up the dates and subtract 25738316 to determine Longitude for the cache location which is a short walk away.
