Geocache Description:

The cache is located near a busy roundabout (but set back from the road), so not a cache and dash! If you're driving to this cache then I'll assume you passed your test and know not to park on a roundabout, there are plenty side-streets near-by. Kids will love it, but mind the traffic. Take a seat on the bench and have a sing!

"Three Craws" is a traditional Scottish song, usually sung to, or by, children. "Craw" is the Scottish word for a crow. Some may argue about the order of the verses, but never about the fifth! I was recently introduced to a "final" verse, which rounds off the song nicely.

(Hold three fingers up on one hand)
Three craws sat upon a wa',
Sat upon a wa', sat upon a wa', aw, aw, aw!
Three craws sat upon a wa',
On a cauld and frosty mornin'.

(indicate first finger, then mock crying)
The first craw wis greetin' for it's maw,
Greetin' for it's maw, greetin' for it's maw, aw, aw, aw!
The first craw wis greetin' for it's maw,
On a cauld an' frosty mornin'.

(Indicate second finger, flap elbows like a bird)
The second craw couldnae flea at a',
Couldnae flea at a', couldnae flea at a', aw, aw, aw!
The second craw couldnae flea at a',
On a cauld an' frosty mornin'.

(Indicate third finger, then cradle jaw)
The third craw fell an' broke his jaw,
Fell an' broke his jaw, fell an' broke his jaw, aw, aw, aw!
The third craw fell an' broke his jaw,
On a cauld an' frosty mornin'.

(Indicate a fourth finger, hold open hands out, palms up)
The fourth craw wisnae there at a',
Wisnae there at a', wisnae there at a', aw, aw, aw!
The fourth craw wisnae there at a',
On a cauld an' frosty mornin'.

And that's a' a ken aboot the craw!
Ken aboot the craw, ken aboot the craw, aw, aw, aw!
That's a' a ken aboot the craw!
On a cauld an' frosty mornin'.

(Wa'=wall, cauld=cold, greetin'=crying, maw=mother, couldnae=couldn't, flea=fly, a'=all, wisnae=wasn't, ken=know, aboot=about.)

The sculpture did originally have all three craws, but one was sadly stolen. maybe it joined the fourth craw!
