This cache is a stones throw from an abandoned pioneer cemetery. Parking is available on the extra wide shoulder at the entrance to the cemetery. Please be respectful as you search, though the cache itself is not inside the cemetery.
This is the final resting place of James Cunningham, and his wife Anne Switzer. The Cunninghams settled in Ops township in 1824, after immigrating from Adaire Ireland where James and Anne were born and married. It is interesting to note that the plaque gives the wrong date of death for James, as he signed his will in 1844, 5 years after his supposed death. His real date of death is sometime in late 1844 as his son John went before the surrogate court in January 1845 to confirm he had been named executor of his father's estate. The plaque also lists Anne by her middle name, Eliza for reasons unknown.
