The rules are simple. Every Saturday a football (NFL) geocache will be released somewhere in North County. Anyone finding it between now and the kickoff of Thursday night’s game can choose an offense and a defense from this week’s NFL games. Your score for this week will be the number of points your offense scores minus the amount of points your defense surrenders. The scoring period for week six is from 5:30 PM, the Thursday night game of October 13 through the Monday night football game of October 17. Every offense and defense chosen must be unique. First-to-Find has choice of any offense and defense (even from the same team), second to find has second choice, and so on. The cache hiders are also playing, so that person will select fifth each week. Scoring is cumulative and at the end of the season the cacher with the highest score will be crowned North County Gridiron Cacher Ultimate Uber Supreme. Of course, participation in the contest is optional, so you can still log the cache even if you want to sit on the sidelines.
Update on the season score will be posted with each new cache.
Injuries. Nothing is worse than to see one of your favorites being carted off, or reading in the newspaper the next day that he has torn his ACL and his season is over. What is a team to do? In fantasy football, when the injury bug strikes, you drop the player and pick up whatever you can find on the waiver wire. But in real life, a team has to promote from the practice squad or pick up a player that didn’t make the cut over preseason and is now watching football from his LazyBoy chair in his pajamas every Sunday. How do you replace a pro-bowler with one of those? You don’t.
