Geocache Description:

In this geocaching experience, you get to learn about a Medford engineer who died in World War II and find a geocache!

This geocache is on the median of Playstead Road. A few feet away from the geocache there is a memorial stone. The memorial stone has a bald eagle on top of a crest carved into it and features a relief carving of Richard H. Cook. The memorial stone reads, "In Memoriam of, Richard H. Cook." Under that is his title, "Lieut., C.E.C., U.S.N.R." It then says that he lived from 1909 to 1944. Under those dates, it reads, "Killed in the line of duty, June 7, 1944." Next it says, "He stands in the unbroken line of patriots who have dared to die that freedom might live and grow and increase its blessings. Freedom lives and through it, he lives." Under that, in small print, it says, "A member of Medford City Engineers Staff, 1930-1942." Followed by, "This tablet is dedicated to his memory by the citizens of Medford. Walter E. Lawrence. Mayor."

Congratulations to Tacoman14 for FTF!
