James Callahan is buried near this cache, and this is placed in his honor. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and again during the Korean War. He was an M.P. for a large part of that time. He received the Korean Service medal with 2 bronze service stars.
A perk of being a military police officer was escorting visiting dignitaries. James protected visiting generals and celebrities during his time in Korea. The two standout guard assignments he remembered most fondly were Marilyn Monroe and Bob Hope. In this photo he is pictured with Marilyn Monroe in Korea February 18, 1954.
He is the first in this series because I am so proud to say that he was my father-in-law, and I loved him dearly! Thank you, James, for serving the people of United States so selflessly. Even with the ‘perks’ it was dangerous, sacrificial work that took you from your family. You were an amazing man!
The cache is a small, log only container. Please make sure to replace it as you found it for the next cachers, and as always, be respectful of your surroundings!
