The southern parts of Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo's northern end lay in the Nechisar National Park. Both lakes harbour a great deal of species, be it inside the lakes or on the shores. Wildlife include fish - like catfish, Tilapia and Nile perch -, hippopotamus and crocodiles as well as a variety of birds, e.g. fish eagle, storks, pelicans and cranes.
Although Lake Abaya does not have a regular outflow, in some years it overflows into Lake Chamo, thereby uniting the two lakes.
The cache is placed in a stone wall close to a well-known lodge. Yet, you don't have to live at the lodge to access the cache.
Note by the owner (July 2019):
After four years in Ethiopia, my time in the 'Land of Origins' came to an end in July 2019. I have done my best to widen and maintain the net of geocaches in the country, but now need to call on my fellow cachers for help: If you venture out to search for this cache, please take a replacement container with you, just in case the original is gone. - Sundowner74 |
