Geocache Description:

In early 2015, a public competition looking for innovative ideas to transform the vacant Power Street Loop site next to the Domain Tunnel was launched.

The competition called on teams of creative students and professionals to come up with design elements and artistic solutions to breathe new life into an unused site next to CityLink.

Known as the Power Street Loop, the site accommodates the exit ramp from the Domain Tunnel and borders Sturt Street which is included in the Victorian Government's Southbank Cultural Precinct Redevelopment Masterplan.

Habitat-Filter by Drysdale Myers and Dow beat over 50 entries to take out the ideas competition developed by CityLink.

Described as a "working sculpture within a landscape" the design aims to be both self-functioning and complementary to the arts precinct.

The winning team comprising Melbourne-based urban designer Matt Drysdale, designer Matt Myers and user experience professional Tim Dow said their sculpture was a self-sufficient "island" that provided a great example of sustainability and created a visually stimulating urban landmark.

There is no pedestrian or car access to the area in the middle but you get a great view of the Habitat filter from the cache area.
