The published co-ordinates take you to another movie location used in Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
This house is found at 29 Hepburn Street.
Towards the end of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Hec is now living in this old villa which is a boarding house.
A home for "Correctional, Rehabilitation and Reintergration".
Ricky visits Hec, and this is the location for that scene:
“Me and this fat kid / we ran, we ate and read books / and it was the best.”
But this home is more than a one of the locations used in the movie, it is also a Mansion from the 1880's. For more about the history of this home, click here, for the last 67 years it was called "Te Kainga Aroha" until 3 years ago it was used by the United Maori Mission (a hostel for young Maori women). Its purpose was for housing for young Maori girls living outside of Auckland, coming to find work or parents arranging for younger girls to attend Auckland Girls Grammar School.
