Geocache Description:

A straight forward walk taking you to the location of some of the many closed pubs of Malton.

Enjoy!

Stage 1

The Spread Eagle, 72 Castlegate. The building is now a residential property. For this reason the co-ordinates take you to the opposite side of the road. You are looking for the number on the lampost. = A - 7.

Stage 2

The Black Bull, closed in 1938. 33 Market Place. This property number does not exist. The pub was demolished to make way for road improvements. There is an issue with this stage so the answer is 6.

Stage 3

The Black Swan, closed in 1984. 17 Market Place, selling coffee, cakes and snacks. At the coordinates look to the right, you are looking for Malton Town Trail Sign = C + 2.

Stage 4

The Old Talbot, closed in 1907. 9 Market Street. There are now two properties where the pub sat. You are looking for a sign. How many letters in the middle word? Clue Fox = D + 3.

Stage 5

The Rose, 18 Yorkersgate. You are looking for the lowest sign with an 'imperial measure indicator' metal plate = E - 9.

Stage 6

The Queens Arms, Railway Street. This property now sells breakfast, lunches and snacks. You are looking for the release fee sign in the cafe car park. The last digit on the sign = F - 4. (These coords have been updated in Jan 2018)

N 54 08.ABC W 000 47.DEF

And to The Cache ...

You are looking for a small specimen tube.
