Geocache Description:

The Town of Mt. Pleasant and McAllister Ballpark

Mount Pleasant was founded in 1848 and has been a model example of small town America ever since. In the early 1800’s, Mount Pleasant was the "comfort station" for the wagons that traveled from Concord to Salisbury. In 1833, the name of the Town was "Walker Store" then changed to Mount Comfort. In 1848, the town became known as Mount Pleasant.

I grew up going to McAlister School (now Town Hall for Mt. Pleasant), played on this ballfield (McAllister Field) many seasons from Little League through later years playing church softball, and chased many home run baseballs. Over the years I have collected baseballs when I find them behind outfield ballpark fences. In fact, when hiding this geocache I found a baseball. So good luck with “Hit it out of the park”.
