By now, if you live in a New Zealand city, you've probably seen the latest graffiti mitigation attempts by Chorus that employ local artists to bring some life to their utility cabinets. There are quite a number of caches in the Hutt Valley that take you to similar work (e.g. CaligulaNZ's BB series). Several cabinets in the Porirua region feature work by Anthony "Antz" June. This one is called "Fantail" and is in the suburb of Whitby right next to Postgate Park.
The cabinet is in a rather exposed area with a park on one side and the street on the other. It's also right next to a bus stop so stealth and patience will be required if you choose an inappropriate time of day. If you've done this type of cache before you'll find it in seconds. It is possible to park right in front of the cabinet which may afford you some cover from the houses across the street. Alternatively you can park just around the corner in Staiths Drive North where there is decent parking.
Note that the slightly elevated difficulty rating is a reflection of the stealth required and not how hard it is to find the cache. The cache is camouflaged for obvious reasons and does not have its own writing instrument. And just in case you're expecting a mint tin, it's not.
There is no photo here of the cabinet because the point is for you to go and see it. However, the background of this page is a teaser and if you're the spoiler type, Antz's work can be found on the web.
