This saddle connects a number of different tracks. You can take a rest and find a cache.
Purple Peak track starts from the top carpark off Brocheries Road. The track climbs gently upwards to the saddle (590m) where one can decide whether to turn left and climb Stony Bay Peak or perhaps walk all the way down the other side to Akaroa.
