I don't know why people stopped going to drive ins. It was a cheap, easy way to see 2 movies for less than the price of one and you got to enjoy it in the comfort of your own car! The Miracle Twin flourished from 1973 until 2008 and we spent many fun evenings here. It is sad for me to drive by now and see it in disrepair. So, of course, when I was looking for a place to put caches, I knew that I had to put one here!
I might be remembering drive ins a little more romantically than they really were, though. I also remember that I was usually ready to go to sleep before the first feature started, let alone making it to the second movie. And was every drive in build next to a swamp? Because I never left a drive in when I wasn't covered in mosquito bites! I think that with the invent of home video, people started watching the movies that played at drive ins at home where popcorn wasn't $8 a bowl and the bathroom is down the hall, not across a creepy parking lot!
Anyway, it is still sad that this piece of history is gone, and if you are old enough to have fond memories of a drive in, I hope that you will take just a minute while getting this cache to look around and reflect on them.
