Little and Large Traditional Cache

This cache is one of a series set out to mark the Hallowe’en event at Newtonhill Croft Woodland, near Wick, in 2016. This commemorates the fifth anniversary of the opening of the site.

The caches set out to demonstrate some of the wide variety of cache containers, methods of hiding and types of caches and to give a pleasant walk around the woodland.

Please do not look for these caches until Sunday 30th October 2016, the day of the event.

This woodland is 26 hectare in area, first trees planted in 2011, so still very much an infant forest.

One of the first things done was high fencing on three sides to keep out roe deer, essential if the young trees were not to become winter grazing. Very few deer now visit the wood, so the trees are slowly beginning to make their presence felt.
