Geocache Description:

The Sturt Gorge Recreation Park offers a diverse range of walking trails with both linear and loop walks available.  Most of the trails require a considerable amount of fitness, but you will be rewarded with some stunning scenery even though it is surrounded by suburbia. Highlights are the wildflowers in spring, the deep gullies, the stunning rock formations, the babbling creek that runs all year round and the leafy trees that run along the creek.

The trails can be found by firstly searching for “sturt gorge trails” online, and then by making your way to a trailhead  or a nearby road to begin your walk.

One of our favourite trails is the River Trail, in which you can walk from Horners Bridge (Murrays Hill Rd) downstream along the entire length of the creek (but bypassing the dam) all the way to South Road. This walk is about 10km and is very rewarding.

This cache is located along the main River Trail that follows the creek. You will see many signposts showing you the way along the various trails. Also at various locations on the edge of the Gorge you will find information boards that describe the trails, along with a map of the area.

Please note that there is little or no mobile phone coverage at GZ and please watch out for snakes in summer.
