This is a micro cache so no room for any swag. Bring your own writing implement.
A medium sized cemetery in Ontario County. No night caching please. Do not upset or disturb any markers or headstones. You do not need to move or touch any of them to collect the information needed. Gentle respect for the occupants is expected. Please don't bring animals or allow small children to run about. If you have your children with you, by all means have them help collect the information you need and use this as a learning experience for them about proper cemetery behavior.
Here is a cemetery cache with a little work involved. You have to locate certain headstones and use the dates to calculate the final cache location. When you have a date such as 1/1/2016 add the zero in the day field to yield the needed number (e.g. 1012016).
Find the following markers and make note of the dates of death listed.
From the starting coordinates go 40 feet east to the Clark monument. Who is on bottom facing northwest?
Continue east 40 feet to an obelisk with an urn on top. Who is on top facing west?
Looking east north east are several more obelisks. Go to the tallest one you see on that heading. Use the date for James' first wife who faces SSE.
Sum up the dates and subtract 16259716 to determine Latitude for the cache location
Looking east is a tree. Go to the obelisk just left and past the trunk. The family name is the same as a famous American poet, or a chocolate maker, or a local school. Who is in the bottom facing west?
About 20 feet SSE is a metal obelisk. Use Jacob's wife.
Look east and you will see a black marker almost in the woods. Who faces east?
Sum up the dates and subtract 10712245 to determine Longitude for the cache location which is a short drive away. You will have a short walk to the final location from the designated parking area. Please note, you are not supposed to drive past the red gate at the parking area even if it is open.
