Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache so no room for any swag.  Bring your own writing implement.

A small sized cemetery in Yates County.  No night caching please. Do not upset or disturb any markers or headstones. You do not need to move or touch any of them to collect the information needed. Gentle respect for the occupants is expected. Please don't bring animals or allow small children to run about. If you have your children with you, by all means have them help collect the information you need and use this as a learning experience for them about proper cemetery behavior.

Here is a cemetery cache with a little work involved.  You have to locate certain headstones and use the dates to calculate the final cache location.  When you have a date such as 1/1/2016 add the zero in the day field to yield the needed number (e.g. 1012016).

Find the following markers and make note of the dates of death listed.

From the sign head SSW to a pink obelisk near the edge of the cemetery. Who has "Gone Home"?

Now look SSE. Go to the obelisk just past the Chadwick’s. Who is in the middle facing down hill?

Looking east is a two point black marker. Who asks us "be to my faults a little blind and to my virtues very kind"?

Sum up the dates and subtract 11172059 to determine Latitude for the cache location

Head uphill to the other side of the stump and find a Private from the revolutionary war. Be careful to pick the right one on the obelisk

A little to your left you'll another large stump. Uphill and to its right is a marker sharing the name of an early President of the US. Who is in the bottom facing downhill?

Head uphill and south about 40 feet and find the Allen marker. Who faces SW?

Sum up the dates and subtract 6808774 to determine Longitude for the cache location which is a short drive (1.5 miles as crow flies) away.

Please make sure you close the top tightly to keep things dry inside. You can validate your solution by clicking the icon below. Make sure you enter a space after “N” and “W” and after the degrees portions of the solution (your answer should look like N 99 99.999 W 99 99.999 including the spaces)
