Montcross is a growing suburban area that contains a shopping center and over 50 acres of outparcel space leased to the big stores and several surrouding restaurants and hotel. Montcross is primarily owned by Belmont Abbey, which is a Benedictine monastery founded in 1876. One of the primary purposes of the development is to provide financial support for Belmont Abbey College. Over their extensive 133 year history, the Monastery has assembled and preserved approximately 700 acres of land, of which 160 acres are used by the Monastery.
