Aunt Sally's farm opened in 1957. It was turned into Winnipeg Down Under in 1993. Currently, the sight is part of the McFeetor's Heavy Horse Centre.
My memory of Aunt Sally's Farm is a very different one from most people... One day a skunk found itself under our home on Martin Avenue, and my Dad (rekal) was elected to head under the house to get the skunk out. He dressed in multiple layers, donned an old parka, and put on a mask and snorkel for the task. Neighbours from down the street wondered what was happening so came over to check it out. My parents explanined about the skunk, and the neighbours walked over to where the skunk had entered. They started calling, "Here Herman! Come on out, Herman!" And out waddled the skunk. Turns out, Herman was their pet. Shortly afterwards, Herman ended up in the zoo, and we headed there to visit with him. For years I thought those black with white striped animals were called Hermans.
Congratulations to Samh311 and WikkedNinja1034 on the FTF for this one!
