Geocache Description:

"It's YOUR turn to vote, Metro Van Geocachers!"

Last years' event was so much fun we couldn't wait to invite all you amazing MV Geocachers out again for another night of movies and fun.

What, Where, When, and For Whom is the MV-GIFF 2016?

Because it's "Your Turn to Vote, Metro Van Geocachers" you are formally invited to attend the international premier showing of 16 short films about geocaching from around the world, taking place in romantic and exotic Coquitlam, British Columbia, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre.

Please be certain to tell us how many are in your party so that we can ensure seating for everyone. We have a limit of 100 of you amazing MV Geocachers for this event.

This gala will take place in the Rehearsal Hall at 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam

This reprise of last years' fun-filled event will run from 6:30pm to 9:00pm

What to Expect at the MV-GIFF 2016

You'll arrive in style, we're certain, and we'll be expecting you (because you logged your "Will Attend" - right?)...

As you enter the theatre lobby you'll have the opportunity to purchase (non) premium liquid refreshments in support of the event costs, and then rub shoulders with some of the elite of the MV Geocaching world (that'd be all of you).

You are more than welcome** to take and post your selfies on the red carpet (use #GIFF2016 when you post them) as you enjoy the energy of one of the biggest events of the Fall Geocaching Season.

Once our MC for the evening kicks things off, you'll have the opportunity to use your smartphone to vote LIVE for your favourite amongst the 16 short films we'll be watching. The results will be shared during brief breaks every four films and during the extended intermission at the half-way point of the evening. If you don't have a smartphone, we will try and have an electronic "voting booth" available for you to use.*

By the end of the evening, we'll have the opportunity for a few more beverages to be purchased and enjoyed, and some prize drawings!

What Should You Wear and Bring to the MV-GIFF 2016

Wear whatever you are comfortable and legally allowed to go out in public in - however, much like last years super-glamorous affair - we are encouraging all the MV Geocachers who attend to dress it up in style. You all looked so fabulous last year we can't wait to see you again this year!

As we've noted, it'll be important to also bring your smartphone so that you can participate in the live on-line polling that will be taking place during and between the films. No special apps are required, and any smartphone with Internet access will work. The voting results will be shared live on the big screen during the show breaks.

Final MV-GIFF 2016 Notes of Importance

Please also note** that while this is a public Geocaching event open to all, there may be photographs (selfies, group pictures, etc) taken by various individuals that you may inadvertently be in.

* Voting booth may or may not be available; we will update this event via a notification once confirmed.

** MV Geocachers and all volunteers associated with the event cannot prevent any individuals from taking photos during this event. If you have serious concerns about accidentally being captured in a photo that may be posted to the Internet we suggest this may not be the event for you.
Okay that being said, please take into account that not everyone wants their picture posted on social media or in the geocaching event logs. Think before you post a picture. And if you see someone filming or taking pictures and you wish for them not to post them anywhere please approach them in a positive and polite way and inform them of your concerns.
