Geocache Description:

One of a series of simple, easy to find, caches at railway stations in and around Marlborough.

Welcome aboard the Picton-Blenheim train service to Blenheim! Last stop Elevation, next stop Koromiko.

Overend's Siding was opened when the line was opened, 18 November, 1875, to service Overends' farm. However only 4 months later a shelter was installed and the name changed to Mt Pleasant. I was unable to find the origins of this name - if you know, please get in touch with me. Very little can be found on the area, and no photos of the station exist. Mt Pleasant Station was eventually closed on 14 October 1968 and now no evidence remains of the shelter shed or platforms that were once here. It was actually located 60 metres towards Picton from the cache, but parking is terrible there (and only slightly better here).

Tracks are for trains. Do not go around the fence!
