Geocache Description:

Another in the BIRDS series of caches. This one in the Yarramundi area.

Please take care with children as this road can be busy at times.

As always be aware of snakes on hot days.

The Laughing Kookaaburra is the Largest Australian Kingfisher approx 41-47cm and the most well known.

It has a huge bill, a dark brown ear patch, and brown head. It in pale underneath, back and wings brown with mottle blue on wings. Tail is barred rufous brown and black.

It call is raucous laughter that makes you want to join in laughing.

In the 60s and 70s my parents were leaders at a nearby camp, and I spent a lot of time there as a "mascot". Kookaburras calling were part of camp life.  I remember I had a camp T-shirt with a Kookaburra on it.

Kookaburras have always been a favourite family bird.
