Geocache Description:

On a side of this square (or rather, triangle) you can find Centro Montecarmelo. It was built as a convent for Santa Teresa's Carmelitas in 1897, and functioned as a school until the 1985 earthquake. In 1986, it was bought by the Municipalidad de Providencia due to its historical and architectural value, and since 1991 it functions as a Cultural Center. Nowadays there are courses and activities in here, like theater, music concerts, and cinema screenings.

Right in the middle of the square there is a monument to swedish ambassador Gustaf Harald Edelstam, who worked between 1973 and 1989 to help about 29.000 chilean refugees find a new home in Sweden during the Dictatorial Period.
