Geocache Description:

The Town of Shandaken website refers to the town as"our little jewel here in the heart of the Catskill Park" This cache is another in a series that will give the phrase meaning in the form of Geocaching Art.

This is a mystery cache, THERE IS NO CACHE AT THE POSTED COORDINATES;. Repeat - there is no cache at the posted coordinates.

This is my first attempt at art, I hope you enjoy it. This is #4 of the series. The others will follow over the next couple weeks and will take you to many out of the way corners of Shandaken

It is up to you , the geocache hunter, to decide to wait for the whole series or go for each as they get published. Can you guess the art will be?

For this puzzle you'll just need to do a simple translation. The question is from what to what?

Back in the 60's through the 90's much of the local economy depended on IBM and its mainframe operations in Kingston. While I personally never worked for IBM, I have worked a lot on their System 360 series and the mainframe lines that followed. Those machines spoke in a language that seemed to have a Hex on it!

To the IBM mainframe computer, the solution would be obvious!

the cache is located at:

North 42 74656E20706F696E742065696768742073697820736576656E20

West 074 7369787465656E20706F696E74207A65726F20736576656E2066697665

I have rated the difficulty a 2.5 due to being a puzzle cache, the math and the final hide. I would be willing to alter that based on feedback if folks think it is unfair. Also, I rated the terrain a 1.5 due to the hide final resting spot.

Parking available nearby if hiking the nearby trails. Please bring a pen and extraction tool!  No sign, no logging!  Good Luck and Cache On!

And a PS - if you follow the nearby old logging road (now a NYS marked trail) up about a mile you should find the Diamond Notch Falls. A much easier and kid friendly hike than from the Diamond Notch Rd trail head.
