Geocache Description:

CHURCH MICRO 10138... SAINTHILL

*****************

A straightforward multi around the Baptist Church at Sainthill.

To find the cache:

At the headline coordinates there is a bench:

  • How old was the person in question? Answer = AB
  • What year was their birthday commemorated with the bench? Answer = CDEF

Now go to Waypoint 2 - another bench! :

  • How many letters in the man's surname? Answer = G
  • How many words are carved into the bench? Answer = H

The final cache is a short walk away at N50 51.(H-B)(F)((CxC)+G) W003 17.(A-E-C)(H-G)(F/D)

Checksum: A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H=31

You will probably find tweezers useful! The cache may not be so easy for some...

Please do not attempt the cache at night - I think the churchyard is locked.

*****************

This Christian community started in the 19th century in a farmhouse kitchen, moving to its own little plot of land with a chapel built in 1830. In the days of travel on horse or by foot it was the right location for its community. Today the fellowship and activities here are sustained by car. Modern churches can’t always expect people to come to their building, increasingly churches go out in different ways into the community, mixing, moving, meeting in the school, the pub, and other aspects of community life. When the farm building that was situated opposite the Church became redundant the building was acquired by the Church subject to planning, which was passed and approved in 2003 when building work then commenced. The work was completed the following Summer and was officially opened in October 2004. Since then it has been used for Junior Church and Youth Clubs, coffee mornings, Café Church and various celebration and fundraising meals. There is a toilet which is open to the public at all times - see the sign on the gate
