Update: The old golf course is now owned by the Town of Penfield and is open to the public, so muggle activity may be greater than when I launched the cache. Please take the time hide the cache well so the cache doesn't get plundered and TBs lost. Also, you can now park in the parking lot on Whalen Rd. just south of GZ.
This cache is an ammo can hidden in a pioneer cemetery in Penfield, NY. The cemetery is public property, but it is surrounded by the old Shadow Pines golf course which is no longer in use. There is a large parking lot near the cache, but it is on the old golf course, so please don't trespass. You can park on the shoulder of the road at the cemetery.
This is a quick cache and go for dedicated cachers, but it is also an opportunity to talk about pioneer life with children. The cemetery includes three graves - a revolutionary war veteran and his first and second wives. Life was hard then, and it was common for widows and widowers to quickly remarry because running a farm and raising a family required more than an individual could manage.
Muggle activity should be close to zero in this area, so I thought it would be a great place for a travel bug cache. My children and I have been disappointed many times over the years when bugs we follow disappear. It seems like many of the caches that are appropriate for children are often plundered by muggles. That's the primary reason we placed this cache. An easy cache for children (and children at heart) to trade travel bugs.
