Geocache Description:

Go on a mystery tour in Fredonia’s beautiful, historic Barker Commons.  Bring a pen.

Update: CONGRATS to Pizza Ninja for the FTF!!

This is Rook House and jtlustig116’s first cache.  We hope you enjoy!
This mystery cache will bring you to beautiful Barker Commons in downtown Fredonia, NY.
Watch out for muggles!  Some days and evenings there are festivals going on, especially summer/fall weekend afternoons, and you should only very cautiously attempt the cache then.  At other times, though, simple geo-stealth, perhaps with a friend for cover, will be enough.   Fredonia Parks and Recreation approved the cache and the Fredonia Police Department was notified about its location. smiley

There is a quick puzzle to do first!  You will have to solve the final coordinates by walking around the perimeter of Barker Commons to find monuments that have values for A, B, and C:

Final coordinates:  N 42° 26.3AB    W 079° 19.9CB

A: William B. Cushing sank the Confederate Ram Albemarle on October 27, 1A64.

B:  The Bandstand was presented to the Village of Fredonia by the Fredonia Rotary Club in August 19B6.

C:  The green sign outside the Village Hall and Opera House tells you that Fredonia was founded in 18C9.

A goodie for the First to Find is a gift certificate to a local soup & sandwich place, within easy walking distance of the cache, courtesy of Rook House!
When you find the cache, please be a little careful removing and replacing it, to avoid damaging its surroundings.
