Geocache Description:

Welcome to “X3 – Battleship 2.0”.  This cache is at the posted coordinates.  Don’t forget to notice if this cache is a “Hit” or “Miss”.

The objective of Battleship – 2.0 is simple, sink the battleships (find bonus mystery caches). Carefully placed in a 7mi square grid in Brown County, South Dakota are 49 traditional and mystery caches. Some are hits and some are misses. You will find the hits and misses notations under the lids. Each hit will have numbers needed to solve the 5 bonus mystery caches. Aircraft Carrier GC6V9GP, Heavy Cruiser GC6V9GZ, Light Cruiser GC6V9H2, Submarine GC6V9H7, and Destroyer GC6V9HG. Depending on your luck, you may not need to complete all the squares of the grid to find the final objective.

Each battleship (bonus mystery cache) needs a different amount of hits to get all the numbers. Aircraft Carrier – 5 hits. Heavy Cruiser – 4 hits. Light Cruiser and Submarine – 3 hits each. Destroyer – 2 hits. These virtual ships have been placed on the grid either North and South or East and West. (Not Diagonally) As you work your way through the grid you will be able to find the ships.

In each of these 5 bonus caches will be numbers needed to solve for the final mystery cache in this series, the Battleship X – Battleship 2.0 GC6NNX6

All of the Battleship – 2.0 caches are located in ditches along gravel roads. Some roads in the grid do not exist, go all the way through, or are only minimum maintenance, so you may have to go around and come at a cache from a different direction. None of these caches are on posted property, so please stay off posted property. You should be able to park next to each cache.

In order to make the grid “square” on the map, some hit or miss caches are mystery so the mystery icon is in formation with the traditional icon. Information to find the final locations of these caches is located on the cache page. The final locations of these mystery caches are within one to two miles of the mystery icon. And lastly, this series is placed to be winter friendly. This is to say that if you get through the snow to GZ, the cache is findable. Please re hide all caches as found. To keep this game fun for all, please do not state in your log if it is a hit or miss.
