Geocache Description:

This is a short multi-cache bringing you to the church of St Peter's Newton Noss. This cache is part of the church micro series. The cache is not within church grounds.


The Church



The church is part of the combined benefice of Newton Ferrers Noss Mayo & Holbeton. The church was built by the Barings family in 1877 after the nearby St Peter the poor fisherman was deemed unsafe following severe storm damage in 1840. The current church pink rock-faced coursed rubble with granite dressings and is Grade II Listed. The church has a combines Nave and Chancel which feature some rather fantastic wall murals and a triptych behind the altar.   

 

The Cache


At the headline coordinates you will find yourself at the main door of the church, now is a good time to go and take a look at this lovely church's interior if you so wish.


From here head around on the cut path to the right. you will need to look for a grave with a large anchor. All graves are clearly defined and there is no need to walk on any of them though depending on your eyesight you may need to go off the cut path for a better look. As always please be respectful of the grounds.


The grave of Frederick Henry Hastings Grasse features 2 bible verses. 


The first of these verses is Exodus Chapter AA Verse BC 


The second of these verses is 2 Corinthians Chaper BD Verse E 


Now you can head back around the church, you may wish to follow the cut path around and enjoy a view over the estuary. Once at the other end of the church you will find the belfry door which has some lovely ornate hinges. The number of rivets on one hinge gives is BF

You are looking for a micro in a camouflage bag. It is NOT in the wall. GZ is overlooked so please be aware of your surroundings and replace the cache well.
