CACHE: Park and grab. Please make sure it's back up in it's hidey hole, they weed whip here. NOTE: Near the cache location once sat a farmhouse. Not sure what happened to it, I'm sure it was a fire. It's still private property, but the chimney still stands and can be seen from the road at the top of the hill. It's a beautiful chimney.
HISTORY: I currently don't have a lot of specific history collected on the evolution of Otter Lake School. At one point there was a school located on the corner of 11th and Hemingway Lake. Then it was on the corner of 11th and Sherman Streets and today is used as a church. Off 11th Street partially up the drive to the school is a stone to the south, a historic marker dating the organized school in 1922. Of course the old frame schools are older than this, I'm guessing this is the date of the "union school", it had many grades and rooms under one roof. Otter Lake School is just an elementary building and a part of Lakeville Community Schools. When I attended here, the playground was "in the back" on the western side of the building, this would be off 11th Street. Photos are attached to the cache listing.
