The Purangi kiwi project is a community project that began in 2005, Our mission is to provide a place for kiwi to thrive.
Today this area is rich with flora and fauna and is home to around 500 pair of
North Island Brown kiwi and other native bird species such as Tui, kereru,
bellbird, and robin. Find the geocache and then enjoy a walk in the wonderful Otunahe reserve.
This Geocache can be accessed from the Purangi kiwi project cabin Carpark area, drive to
the field cabin at the end of Aukawa road. Follow the signage to the cabin/field centre from
the main Tarata Road.
