Geocache Description:

This geocache is placed in honor of my friend Eugene. He knew I had been looking for an object such as this to turn into a geocache, so he found me one. His only request was that I put it someplace of significance to us both.  Although Eugene is not a geocacher he does love a good adventure. So this cache is placed in memory of my favorite geocaching adventure with my friend.

You don't need to read the following story to find this cache.

I had been perusing my map looking for a new park to concur when I came across Bob HeirmanWildlife Preserve I invited Eugene to check it out with me and he enthusiastically agreed, apparently it was already one of his favorite spots for a nature walk. So on the next available day we packed up the kids and headed out for some fun. Could not have asked for a more beautiful day, sunshine and birds everywhere as we walked down the long gravel path that runs straight across the fields. We discussed our plan of attack along the way and decided to go after "Right Field", we figured the kids would have fun walking through the 7ft+ tall grass. We stopped at the spot where I've placed my cache to enjoy some of the river views before continuing down into the medow. Now I've never had the opportunity to walk through grass like this before and had no idea what I was getting myself, my friend and our 3 preschoolers into. Armed with some sticks we started bushwhacking our way to the goal, each whack sending a plume of grass seed everywhere. After awhile I felt like we should be getting close and checked my gps,,, nope, we had only made it a few hundred feet. Kept at it for a few hundred more feet then decided to clear ourselves a picnic spot and take a break. By now my friend and I where both having some allergy problems from the grass and we had only made it halfway so we decided to call it a day. The walk back was slightly easier since we had made ourselves a good path, but it was still slow going and the clouds of grass seed where unavoidable. By now the kids where getting tired and Eugene was not looking too good. I was starting to worry he might not make it back, but he was on a mission to get the heck out of that grass. We eventually got back to the main trail and up to our vehicles, said our good byes and headed home. Later I called to check on Eugene, he was miserable. It took two full days for him to recover from the worst allergy attack I have ever seen. Although Eugene still comes geocaching with me from time to time he swears he will never fallow me through grass again. Can't say I blame him.

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" ~Hunter S. Thompson

Congratulations to KellyandKarry for FTF!
