Ballantrae - The Village on the beach
Welcome to the friendly little village of Ballantrae of which is known for its fishing and farming, within the village there's the Stinchar river which is commonly used for fishing.
Smuggling is a well known part of Ballantrae's history and is recreated yearly with the smuggler's festival with contraband brought in with tall ships and brought to shoe by rowing smugglers.
The old lady of the sea, who's name you will find out on site, was built in 1949 and is 6.55m long. As of February 2010 she is no longer a registered and licenced fishing vessel however she's been kept high and dry since 2004.
