2. PKKH: Aallokkokoski Traditional Cache

Aallokkokoski on n. 1 km pituinen sarja hyvin vuolaita koskia Myllykosken ja Jyrävän välillä. Tällä matkalla joki laskee 21 m, joten virta on erittäin vuolas ja mataluudesta sekä kivisyydestä johtuen valtavien aaltojen ketju. Kitkajoki onkin erittäin suosittu koskenlaskureitti kumiveneillä ja Aallokkokoski reitin mahtavin kokemus. Aikaa tuolla 1 km matkalla menee ainoastaan hieman yli minuutti, joten vauhti on huima. Koski rauhoittuu n. 300 m ennen Jyrävää ja siinä on rantauduttava, koska Jyrävää ei pysty laskemaan. Toki jotkut huimapäät ovat senkin tehneet kajakeilla.

Aallokkokoski (”The Rapid of Waves”) is about 1 km long serie of very fast-flowing rapids between Myllykoski and Jyrävä. Within this distance the river goes down 25 m, so the waterflow is very fast and due to a shallow water and great stones the waves can be huge all the way down. Kitkajoki is very famous target for river rafting by rubber boats and Aallokkokoski is absolutely the finest rapid you can experience. It takes only about 1 minute to come down, so the speed is quite high. The rapids calm down 300 metres up from Jyrävä and you have to go ashore here. The boats must be left go down empty. However, some daredevils have been seen go down by kayaks, alive.
